Public Relations Strategies and Techniques

COMM 334 builds on what you learned in the Introduction to Public Relations. We go deeply into different aspects of the professional practice in the field of Public Relations. We study the characteristics of Mass Communication to understand how these characteristics influence or even determine this particular communication dynamic. We also learn something about public opinion and the concrete public spheres the PR practitioner has to deal with. Since Public Relations is one of the persuasion industries, we also practice in this course rhetorical skills to shape, reinforce or change opinions, attitudes or behaviors.

An important part of the course is designed as writing and publishing workshop. In addition to the graded assignments, students are expected to write PR pieces every week.
