New Technologies

This course gives students an overview of the contemporary landscape of communication technologies.

First of all, the course reflects on the social impact of new technologies and explores how they affect the different communication contexts: interpersonal, group, public, or mass communication. Furthermore, the course analyzes how traditional communication professional fields, such as advertising, public relations and journalism, are changing as a consequence of the emerging streaming media.

Finally, students familiarize themselves with some standard desk and Web publishing technologies that will allow them to create messages for different audiences and with different strategic goals.
